Bismarck Public Schools has had a full-time Community Relations department since 1988. Two staff members are primarily responsible for employee communication, news media relations, information to parents and community members, etc.

- Weekly employee newsletter, intercom
- Publication design, audio-visual projects, photographs and logos
- Assistance with student/staff awards, special events, and fundraising
- Assistance with news media, advertising, and public relations
- Crisis planning
- Surveys & Web sites
- Serve on BPS committees: DCIC, Leadership Team, Executive Team, ALC, etc.

 Each spring, Bismarck Public Schools recognizes a member of a local news entity for outstanding service in furthering public understanding about education.
